Arvid Lee

Stained Glass artist Arvid Lee breathes intense emotions into his artwork. His work always maintains a vigorous and spirited quality, prevailing in his goal to evoke wonder in the viewer. Often his work combines reality with fantasy, creating a new story with each painting. His work captures an appreciation for beauty and mystic in all of its greatest forms; nature, art, and people. He enjoys discovering new methods and techniques of working with glass and creativity. For him, art is an important form of self-expression. "It's about seeing the world from my perspective where it is feels free, fun and enjoyable,” he explains. My creativity as an artist was evident as a young child and I worked in a variety of mediums.  About 20 years ago I was introduced to stained-glass and it was love at first sight.  I instantly knew that it was exactly how I wanted to express myself artistically.  Stained-glass allows my creations to come alive as the light interplays with the art and draws the viewer into a magical experience. I am mostly a self-taught stained-glass artist and have taken a few classes along the way to sharpen my skills. My artwork captures my heritage by expressing a myriad of themes that are afro-centric, from traditional African themes to modern day issues that people of African descent face all over the world. I have had the opportunity to teach stained glass and I enjoy helping others express their unique brand of creativity.
